DENIS C. KRATCHANOV

Denis C. Kratchanov has held since 1999 one of the best job in the Department of Justice, that of Director of the Information Law and Privacy Section.
He was called to the Bar of Quebec in 1985 and joined the Department of Justice in 1987.
Since 1991 he has been providing legal and policy advice to federal government departments on the access to information and privacy legislation.
His only escape from information law and privacy issues came when he worked in the areas of international law and affairs at both the Department of Justice and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1998-99.
His work on access to information and privacy has been published in the Canadian Bar Review and the Canadian Journal of Administrative Law and Practice.
He is also co-editor in chief of the Klein and Kratchanov Report, a newsletter on legal developments in Privacy and Access published by Carswell.
In 2005 he was awarded by the
John Tait Award
the Department of Justice.
It
