Quebec
Since 1982, the mission of the Commission d’accès à l’information has been to favour access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information and ensure its supervision.
In Québec, the Commission d’accès à l’information is the public body mainly responsible for the enforcement of two Acts:
- Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information
- Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector
This year, the efforts made by Québec to allow simpler and quicker access to information held by public bodies are bearing fruit, particularly through the application of the Regulation respecting the distribution of information and protection of personal information.
This regulation reflects progress in the way access is obtained to documents held by public bodies, triggered by the use of information technology.
Moreover, to mark Right to Know Week, the Commission d’accès à l’information, through its website, offers a page dedicated to the event, containing information capsules, a quiz designed to test your knowledge and links to access to information websites.
